This Marian hymn is from around the 18th century. This particular version, by the Cathedral Singers of Richard Proulx, is highly abridged of the original. The three beautiful paintings are 'The Annunciation' (Francesco de Mura), 'The Song of the Angels' (William Bouguereau), and 'The Annunciation' (supposedly Andrea del Sarto, but I have my doubts). The lyrics of this version and the rough English translation are as follows:
O sanctissima, O piissima, Dulcis Virgo Maria!
Mater amata, Intemerata:
Ora, ora pro nobis!
Tua guadia Et suspiria Juvent nos, O Maria!
In te speramus, Ad te clamamus,
Ora, ora pro nobis!

O most holy one, O most lowly one,
Loving virgin, Mary!
Mother of tender love,
Queen of the heavens above,
Pray for us here below!
Virgin ever fair, hear our fervent prayer,
Look upon us, Mary!
Bring to us your treasure, grace beyond measure;
Pray for us here below!

  • @AK47powpow Pray the Rosary! You'll experience a sense of fulfillment that can't be explained.

  • excellent :)

  • @Millingtorres When a church or the big wigs like the pope cover up the sex scandels. Then dose that not forsake Christ who is the corner stone of the church? So not you that has forsake but the church and it's leaders who have forsake.

  • @ST4leave Hiya! Actually as Catholics we don´t pray to Mary or the saints, we ask them to pray for us. The word "prayer" actually means "to ask for/request", so we are asking them for prayers.

I don´t follow your logic either in the second point. You seem to be judging the Church by the people who fall away and commit atrocities which go directly against it´s teachings, no? If a Protestant fell away, and murdered people, that makes Protestantism wrong? It doesn´t follow my friend.

  • Well I'm not a Catholic but I love this :)

  • Catholic church is the pillar of truth we dont go against christ we follow the lamb.

  • Why are people that are brought up Catholic are more dissectible to go way from god( like Hitler)? When people Believe in god and follow Jesus, and don’t prey to the saints and Mary and all the others they pray threw to get to god, are more likely to stay with god. And why we are at it when the catholic church was killing in the name of god for all those years, at that time was it really not a church of Christ if they go against what Christ has taught? So really it was a false church.

  • @AK47powpow Its called RCIA; its a challenging yet rewarding journey to take.

  • I am so proud to be a Catholic!!!!!!

  • @AK47powpow Your local Catholic parish will have RCIA classes usually beginning in the fall. You will probably meet once a week for a couple hours. At the Easter vigil, you will receive the sacraments of Baptism, Holy Communion, and Confirmation, unless you have been baptized in a Catholic or Protestant church, in which case you will not be re-baptized. Good luck and God bless.
