two of our smoothe collies help with the sheep on the farm.one rough collie and another smooth collie are trained hunting dogs and the largest two males are our guard dogs.I believe giving them all a job and a purpose keeps them happy.I will put up a vidieo clip when I get some free time of the dogs in action.

Thanks for the reply. That's very interesting - I haven' t heard about collies used for hunting yet. And it's nice that some collies are still used for their original purpose. I agree a collie is happy to have a job. And I will be looking forward for the video.

nice collie-I have 5 smooth collies and one rough collie.I also have a couple of ferrets and they do'nt mix well! The dogs will kill anything they see in the woods or fields .They are all working dogs .

Thank you. My smooth collie loves pets, especially our ferrets and cat, but if she spots a wild animal in the woods, she starts hunting it. How do you work with your dogs? Do you have a website? I train agility, obedience and tracks with my smoothie.
