No Beauty and the Beast is an adaptation of the Fractured Fairy Tales version of Beauty and the Beast. Fractured Fairy Tales presented familiar fairy tales and children's stories but with plots altered and modernized for humorous effect. Fractured Fairy Tales were part of The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show, an American animated series which was broadcast from 1959 to 1964.
In No Beauty and the Beast, the woodchopper's daughter, No Beauty, is a fat and unattractive woman who despairs of any man asking for her hand in marriage.
The woodchopper buys No Beauty a donkey (which she names Beast) as a birthday gift. No Beauty is surprised that whenever she rides into town on Beast, all the young men bow and raise their hats instead of laughing and throwing mud at her. No Beauty soon realizes that the donkey is a magic donkey and that she becomes a beautiful maiden whenever she sits on him.
No Beauty marries a prince when he agrees to her condition that she may remain on Beast at all times and in addition, he promises that he will remain on his horse for as long as she stays on her donkey.
One day, the wind blows No Beauty's hat off. She hops off Beast to retrieve it and immediately turns back into the fat and unattractive woman that she was before. At that moment, the prince rides up, discovers the truth about his wife, reveals his own secret and the two live happily ever after.
