When I heard about this story it really hurt my heart. After watching the Decorah Eagles for the last few weeks and learning their routine, little did I know about the Eagles at the Norfolk Botanical Gardens.

Now a mother was killed, and the world is concerned over the Eaglets and if Papa is going to be able to handle the Eaglets alone.

Mama was killed ~8:30 AM and the Eaglets were left alone until the Papa finally returned at 6:45 PM. This is a very long time for the Eaglets to be left alone and it makes me wonder if Papa was looking for Mama.

What I understand this pair have been together a very, very long time and I sure hope Papa can hang in there and keep the Eaglet fed and protected.

WOW!!!

  • I hope everyone is up on the news that the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries decided the best chance for all 3 chicks was to send them to the Wildlife Center of Virginia. The Wildlife Center has an excellent release rate. The chicks will be raised with as little human interference as possible. Dad Eagle is once again hanging out on his favorite hunting tree and will be getting on with his life.

  • @DinoWmn Thank you for your post. My viewers are up to speed with regards to the precious eaglets and Papa. I uploaded the rescue of the eaglets and posted it. of which, was so amazing and very heartfelt especially when Papa came back to the nest with a fish and just stayed there, then picked up the fish and flew away.

  • Aww, this is very sad. All the animals have it tough just trying to live out there. They all work so hard. I hope the Dad can look after the babies and doesn't pyne for his mate too much:(:(

  • @mycrazynan I sure hope that Papa can manage the little ones after the loss of his life-long partner. I never thought I would get so connected to Eagles after being so connected to Lily, Hope, Faith and Jason. I wonder if he was looking for his partner being away from the nest for so long. Normally they are not far away from one another so when one calls out, within moments the other one arrives.

  • @Sierra1947 You know, I find whatever animal it is that we are allowed to observe upclose, becomes fascinating. The way they live their lives, relate to each other, feed themselves and their babies, make their own homes. They are all so incredibly smart and there is no laziness in nature. Animals never ceases to amaze me and they are way too easy to get attached to. I am hoping for the best for the little family of eaglets.

  • Awwww!!

  • WOW! It was too dark to see anything on the eable cam but seeing the clip of daddy eagle returning to the next was fantastic!
