It may not be oil kyawzehtun that the US wanting to get the tip on the prick in,
Strategic Bases are more then likely my friend that is the US agenda, And i Can remeber Hurricane Katrina, They sent in Blackwatertroops without the states permsission and why did it take 3 days when they have many military bases that could have deployed the real Armed forces.
I have one question to USA, me or our people are needing help from international countries the point is out government system want to change to Democracy, some say that USA will not enter to Burma because there's no Oil ,if it is true? United Nations they handle to Burma is too soft , if this way keep going there will more worst then ever. UN and US was expected as God
It's a murky business but unfortunately routine in modern politics. At least it's transparent enough that the lobbyists have to declare their interests publicly.
If tobacco companies can have lobbyist and they're responsible for the death of millions, so can the repressive regime of Burma. By the way, Myanmar is the name the Junta has chosen for Burma. Calling Burma that name gives the Junta tacit legitimacy. Yes it is the Burmese name for their country but it wasn't named by them. It's best to call Bombay by its new name Mumbai, because that was a decision made by it's people. Not so in this case.
How is America in a bad light? Myanmar paid $250,000 for thier views to be lobbied? That's chump change on the streets of washington. Iran, NK, had some too, yet Al Jazeera failed to mention how much they spent, probably more, and it did very little for them.
Lobbying does not mean that they are listened to, it means they are trying to be listened to. Since the US has not invaded or supported (just sanctioned i believe) Myanmar, i dont see how this is any light but neutral.
Burma is now going to refuse any aid sent to them on AMERICAN naval vessels.

I was being rhetorical. I know it's a matter of profit, and so on. And I would agree that it is neutral.
