Mitch Ryder's early 70s band 'Detroit' featuring Mitch (vocals), Steve Hunter (guitar), Brent Tuggle (guitar), two former 'Catfish' members John Badanjek (drums), and Harry Phillips (keyboards), W.R. Cooke (bass), and Dirty Ed (congas/percussion).
For this video I've used pictures and scans taken from my personal copy of the album cover jacket (white label DJ Promo), both front and back, DJ Promo white labels, and back cover credits/bio found on the original LP written by Dave Marsh of 'Creem' Magazine.

  • To all you "Audio Phreeks"...No one gives a fuck...it, Rock and Roll...I know, I was a Producer and grew up in Detroit listening to this all my life....It's supposed to sound like this ...and unless you grew up there in the 50's and 60's you wouldn't know

  • @tmf945

As a former Producer/Tape Op/Studio Engineer I understand what is is you're trying to say. But you don't need to grow up in Detroit to relate. Though growing up in the 50's/60's does help (as I did)...but it isn't essential. And if these songs sound the same on your home stereo when playing your vinyl as they do here in this mp3 compressed state, then I suggest that you invest in a new one. From one "Producer" to another, I'm sure you understand, Lol

  • Hey SCP-thanks again for sharing this brilliant real deal music with the world..so how did you get that dj copy-from 71' it probably is a heavier mill-I do notice some unusual, engineered 'treble burn' on 'Goose' and on the hi-hat break on 'You/Me'..at least on my vinyl-which is darn near mint.I can't see it slippin' past Mitch or Wonderboy, but it's there-the treble's too hot..I aint' knockin' it though, this record alone should put em' all in the RRHOF...It's just that fukin' good.

    You're welcome...but who is SCP?

I bought this DJ pressing from a friend in the late 70's. He worked at a station in Calgary Canada.

Please see my other comment, as I explain the audio, etc.

    Cheers :)

  • @drprogensteinphp- Ooops! sorry -SCP is the southcarolinapicker,a fine feller, who posted some other tunes off this record/and I mixed yous' two up..anyway I'm talking about my analog read at home through a 68' Sansui tube amp and a Thorens td150-it's a Paramount pressing and I can, even through all this digitization on Youtube, tell a quality fidelity difference from your dj copy-that suckers a real prize..Thanks to you again.

  • @buschnic61

Hehehe...I have a vintage mint cond Thorens T-160. I outfitted it with a Sumiko Blue Point no. 2 cartridge not long ago....sounds great!

I ripped this using my Oracle Delphi MKIII turntable, an SME45 tone arm, and a Vanden Hull MC-10 MC cartridge...and Sony Sound Forge. So after all the compression, transfer crap etc, so much is lost.

    Cheers!

After analog to digital mp3 transfer (one of the lesser quality digital formats, but one that Youtube accepts), then the whole upload process here at YouTube, the quality is diminished in a big way. So making a comparison between YouTube audio, and the sound produced through your stereo is like comparing apples to oranges. I own the factory Canadian and US pressings of this LP, and the white label DJ pressing blows them both out of the water when played through my home system

    Cheers

Cool...both Greeneyes and I are very familiar with that band. I still own the vinyl, along with "Charlee", and all his solo LP's. He's still working...look him up on MySpace.

Influence's bass player was Jack Geisinger aka Jack August, Jack also played with Charlee, and later with Moonquake :) ...I met him many years ago in Toronto with Billy Workman (I think)...memories a bit fuzzy...Cool guy too.

  • @greeneyesmexico Wow I knew Walter in the 60s: Psychadelic Band Influence (Canada).
