  • Tony Scott has an impressive pedigree, shepherding the likes of Billie Holiday and Bill Evans, and organizing sessions with Coleman Hawkins and all the greats. What he's doing here is a bit wacked out and not a little manic (he's playing the tune an octave above where it lays--sort of Diz and Bird out of hell). He was a mystic, but here's he's behaving more like a typical Westerner big shot. It's the worst I've heard him, but you can't say you can't hear him.
