After finding the book I wrote about my father's WWII experiences (found on Google Books), Helen, the 'little girl hiding in the attic' was reunited with my father 67 years after they were both hidden in a safe house in Rotterdam by the Dutch Underground during the war. My father, a B-24 bomber pilot, bailed out of his stricken bomber and evaded capture in Holland for 5 months. One of the safe houses he stayed in had a Jewish family hiding in the attic for over 2 years. Helen Berman was the 8 yr. old daughter of the family in the attic. She and her family were eventually caught by the secret German police and spent the rest of the war in a concentration camp. My father was eventually captured and sent to Stalag Luft III POW camp. 67 years later Helen was reunited with my father. The book about my father's experiences during WWII is titled "Two Gold Coins and a Prayer: The Epic Journey of a World War II Bomber Pilot, Evader, and POW."
