Dem Boyz & Dem - Carnival Tabanca #1

DE CREATION:
Dem Boyz and Dem were actually conceived in Oct 2002 by chance. We held a birthday party for Blaze in Tara's (a girlfriend of ours who now resides in ATL) basement. NOBODY showed up!!! Her father pretty much kicked us out and bawled we up. "Not in my house!" were his exact words, so long story short....party done! K-mix was our DJ and it was soca all night for the whole 2 hours it lasted. The next month a good friend of ours passed away (RIP Chris) and Socaboy put together the 40 days lime/party. However, before the party we approached Socaboy about it being all soca that night and he explained we could not do it since it wasn't "we" kind of crowd. So basically we had to settle for hearing some outside music that nite......and that was de last time! In the same month of December, we had Salt, Tone and K-mix birthday's coming up so we went back to infamous "Clubhouse" on Eastern Pkwy. We told all of our friends to tell a friend and to "walk with a bottle" free of charge. This was the official birth of "Dem Boyz & Dem".

DE OBJECTIVE
We have always maintained a certain style that makes our partygoers continually come back for more. This style is SOCA, SOCA AND MORE SOCA. We always wondered why soca parties always had such alternative music decided we will change the scene. We have the best SOCA dj's out there and have them as fixtures in we party. Soca is music like no other and has to be played all night to understand it's power . We wanted to create and keep de vibe of how soca parties used to be back in the good old days. A simple theme we like to push is old school basement soca jams. Not that we would only play old music, but the vibe is reminiscent of the basement jams back in the day. Starting out, we literally had parties in "hole in de wall" venues in some of the worst neighborhoods in Brooklyn. In fact, the basements were so underground, we would have to leave a big flag flying outside for people to identify the location. Pressure! New comers were always skeptical when they first reached as anybody would be, but once inside it was a different story and all worries were pushed aside. We would always get questions asked to us such as; "How do allyuh get so many people to come to a basement party?" We simply answer, "Its all about de vibes". According to some of our patrons, these are the best parties they have ever been too and will never stop supporting and are the only parties they attend and this is what we want to maintain. The objective was to do parties that we would love if we were in one. The only downside is that we does have to work all night, but seeing people dancing, drinking, smiling, and liking dey self is enough satisfaction for us.

DE RIDDIM SECTION:
This must be a fixture in our parties. We love to have a separate room where people can catch powers listening to de only nonstop riddim section in BKLYN. You just can't have a true soca party and not have a riddim section. So where ever u see DEM BOYZ AND DEM, you will see DEM BOYZ AND DEM RIDDIM SECTION.
Big up to Marlon, Jacob, Brian, Ian Dimitri, Wiz and all those who support and love DE RIDDIM.

DE FUTURE:
At this point in time we are at a crossroads with Dem Boyz and Dem. This is because we realize that we cant stay underground forever. The NYPD (ask Salty) will not allow it and we do not want our parties to get shut down. So in turn we have stepped into the main public arena playing in the big leagues. On January 20th 2008, we are heading to the back side of Tropical Reflections Sunset Hall on east 45th St. to bring our signature "DOH CRY AH LEAVING" Part 3. Our Party goers love it and hate it at the same time. Let us explain........Those going to TNT carnival love it and those not going hate it, but wont miss such a dynamic event. We intend to maintain our basement vibes with a bigger venue and allyuh know if anybody can build a vibes its DEM BOYZ AND DEM. We have no choice but to keep our events in venues that we know won't get shut down and it has been a long time coming. In the past, plenty people wouldn't come to de hole in de walls and complained about our venues and neighborhoods. We have listened and have answered your call and this venue is on point. So now everybody can come and enjoy de ULTIMATE SOCA PARTY EXPERIENCE with DEM BOYZ AND DEM. We are looking forward to the upgrade and can't wait to hold our other signature events in venues that all can enjoy. Carnival Tabanca, Mas Fete and Buss De Bar have all been upgraded and we cannot wait to enjoy our events with all our loyal supporters and all those who will be coming out for the first time.
