On February 28th, the LA Derby Dolls season keeps on rollin' as two brand new franchises take to the banked-track. The second game of the season brings the rough-and-tumble Varsity Brawlers to the track to square off against San Diego's Swarm.
Despite being a brand new team, the Varsity Brawlers are anything but a crew of amateurs: the team features a deep roster of veteran talent that dates back to the formation of the league. On top of their seasoned skaters, VB was awarded the best picks of the past few league drafts: so the Brawlers have been quietly putting together a powerhouse of fresh talent as well! Can all these elements come together in 2009 to make VB a squad to fear?
On the other side of this contest is The Swarm: the brand-new banked track team from our sister league, the San Diego Derby Dolls. The Swarm features some of the strongest veteran skaters from SDDD's flat track squad-- including league founder and powerhouse skater Bonnie D.Stroir. In addition to the established SDDD skaters, The Swarm has recently added two legends to their roster: Trish the Dish and Ivanna S. Pankin. They too are hoping their stable of talent comes together to form a formidable team for 2009.
You will not want to miss this as the Varsity Brawlers try to come into their first game swinging and The Swarm attempt to show what San Diego derby is all about!
