hm, kind of stumbled upon this randomly. trivialization / offending large groups of overly sensitive, generally ignorant and rampantly hypocritical people, whilst simultaneously making fun of b-list actors = 5 stars. gord yorb

This is the greatest video ever. I don't think I've ever favorited a video, but I will this one. As You can tell from these blogs, you have hit a nerve. I think that when an actor approaches 50, he starts to realize that he's spent his entire adult life pretending to be someone else and is adored and showered with money. This in the end does not fulfill ones need to matter, thus the dumb bear commercial. How about the stars help people hold onto their 3bedroom house before they're forclosed on

Awesome. Nailed the performance 10 out of 10. And you are absolutely right.
"Barely-relevant actors"... I'm still ROFLing over that line!

The line to draw of animals to focus on is somewhat arbitrary, but I feel comfortable in believing that a polar bear has more self-awareness than an ant. One argument for why animals shouldn't have the same rights as humans (and I agree to a point) is that we're individuals and of course intelligent. So if it's a sliding scale of worth, humans would be at the top, ants or trees etc. at the bottom, but large mammals would be relatively close to us.
-
The difference between humans, other animals is primarily that humans have a much higher intelligence, leading to much more potential destruction and alteration of the environment. And also leading to Morality. Perhaps you don't ascribe to a morality that includes non-human animals, but many do. Humans have free will (or enough illusion of it to be free will) and can choose whether to help or hurt other animals. I think we should help them...

I used to donate to WWF when I had more money, many years ago. The point of the Wyle bit is to promote awareness of a particular animal's plight. But they focus on hundreds of species across the entire planet. Point is it's not just polar bears that a donater would be helping.
-
I take it you now agree with me?

Furthermore, using actors to get people to donate to causes such as the WWF is an insult to people's intelligence or at least to mine. I don't need sad music, soft talk from Noah Wyle and a cute shot of a baby polar bear falling off a glacier. If the WWF wants to make a difference make a commercial that states some facts and ask people to make a decision to help based on said facts.
Playing to people's emotions and asking for donations is in my opinion quite shameful.
For some reason, people never catch my sarcasm when I'm typing. I'm aware that there's a lack of tone inflection but it should be obvious by what I actually say.
Whenever I try to sound sarcastic, emphasis on try, through written/typed word, the sarcasm is never picked up. I couldn't really even be less subtle unless I actually said very clearly, "Hey, this is sarcasm!"
Yes, this is a personal problem and I know you probably don't care, but this is long overdue. Because it's necessary.

Lol I always have the same problem. And I love sarcasm so I feel your pain

Ohemgee, I bet you're a republican because you have a conservative point of view which means all of your political ideologies have to be conservative.

Never assume. People think I am a republican too because I don't care about the polar bear 'plight'. Truth is if I was any more liberal I'd be Jimmy Carter.
