Child Life

A child's hospitalization can be a scary and overwhelming experience for the entire family, but Presbyterian Hemby Children's Hospital's child life specialists are available to help in any way that they can. Trained in child development and the affects of hospitalization on children, child life specialists focus on the psychosocial aspects of a child's hospital stay, helping to normalize the experience, cope with their illness and minimize psychological trauma. Child life also brings the fun to the hospital. From holiday parties to ice cream sundae Fridays to regular games and activities, they do whatever they can to make the hospital experience as much fun as possible. Presbyterian has child life specialists in many areas of the hospital, including pediatrics, pediatric intensive care, pediatric emergency department, outpatient hematology/oncology, neonatal intensive care and outpatient surgery.
