This may seem like complicated stuff but once you get the grasp of it, it becomes clear. Like Einstein once said: When the answer is simple, God is speaking.
The more we understand something, the easier the equations required to describe that phenomenon become. A notion known as "Occam's razor".
To be truly honest, I find it remarkable simple and elegant, the mathematical beauty lying behind the wave.
