Etude in C Minor - Henri Bertini (1798-1876)
Source: Etudes Pour Piano, op. 29.
grade 7. =D

This is a piece I've been working on for my lessons. I enjoy it very much because it's fast and loud XD
I played it at a festival and got FIRST PLACE!!!! =D woot! and 90%, which is First Class Honours with Distinction!!
I noticed that people who had uploaded this on youtube played it too slow.....THIS is how it's supposed to be, according to the tempo.

ENJOY!!!! and please rate and comment! =D

  • well done. i am playing this piece as well, and recently won a scholarship to a prestigious summer music camp with this song. I agree that more dynamics could be added. I have had the sam problem for a long time, to you, it sounds like there is a difference in them, but to others it does not. Don't be afraid to really exaggerate your dynamics! it will sound much better.

Overall, well done, and congratulations on the win!

Wow, congratulations on winning that scholarship! Music camp sounds like a lot of fun.

Maybe you're right about how the dynamics sound to me. Next time I will get someone to listen to me play the etude and tell me how the dynamics sound to them.

    Thank you!

No problem! Keep up the good work!

Do you do any exams, by the way?

  • @kookymonster9

Yes. I have taken RCM exams up to grade 7, all with marks that have me on the First Class Honour Roll. I will be doing my grade 8 exam sometime next year.

  • fantastic ;P!

so im learning this now.. how long did it take you to memorize and perfect =)?

  • @NOTHINGbutCOMEDY

I don't really remember ho long it took me to learn and perfect, but I practice almost everyday for about an hour, give and take, depending on how much homework I have. So it should have taken me around a week or two to learn the notes. I take lessons throughout the whole year, so I spent the whole year perfecting the piece.

Good luck with the piece, and I hope you have fun playing it, because I always do! :D :D

  • Well done. I just started playing piano and want that to be my first "real" song. Thanks for the inspiration!

  • I did add dynamics. The beginning is fortissimo, and I changed it into forte in the middle. At the end there is a crescendo towards another fortissimo. My camera also doesn't record sound very well, so that may be another factor!

  • there is more to piano than notes... you didn't add any dynamics. shame.

  • Thanks! I hope you have fun with it. I did :) And Thanks again :D
