I loved this when I was a kid. Ernie was always so silly, which was fantastic, but everyone has their serious moments, and this was one of Ernie's rare ones. Plus, it's a beautiful song when you really think about it. It amazes me when something like this pops into my head, and it just always seems to be on youtube. Thank goodness for that, cause u'd probably never see this stuff again. SStreet is just not the same as when we were kids, and kids today can see this great vintage stuff

I know why adults find this song sad. Its because Ernie is singing about an idyllic place, a place called "home". As kids, we had a place that was safe and sound (hopefully) that we knew we could always go home to. As adults, we have a longing for that place, but in until we make a place of our own where we can feel as safe as when we did as kids, we'll always be on the moon or under the sea, trying to get back home.
