This should have been a no contest. Hughes passed out and Newton was ko'd due to it. Double ko. Waiting to see who got up first to determine the winner would be stupid too. It only takes a couple seconds once pressure is released from a choke to wake up. The second a triangle is unlocked after you pass out you wake up soon after. Actual knockouts are a severe concussion and you typically stay out a lot longer.

He was knocked unconscious VIA a slam by Matt Hughes. If it were not for Matt Hughes slamming him Carlos Newton would have been conscious.... starting to see the relation? Matt Hughes slam... Carlos goes out due to slam... Matt hughes unconscious right after slam but wakes up first... if it were a real fight... he could have killed carlos

Hughes said he passed out in other interviews, if big john didn't wake him (which should of been fair) it should of been who ever woke up first takes the belt.
