Nice job! I'm playing this for a class. However, I have sheet music, so props to you for learning it by ear.

And yes, good attempt, but your timing needs work. I'm a violinist myself. Just keep listening to the song, and practicing. Eventually you'll nail it.

Guest violinist Dave Arbus from the band East of Eden, played VIOLIN, not viola, on Baba O'Riley. Look him up on wikipedia if you want. Keith Moon, drummer for The Who, was friends with Dave Arbus, and ended up producing Arbus' solo into the final recording.

Yeah, it can be. It'll be about 1% harder to play because the cellist will have to shift up for that high F, but cellists are used to shifting for everything anyways ;-)

that was pretty good. although what no one mentions is that the solo was actually a Viola... not a violin.

No, it was a violin. I play viola- that's definitely a violin on the recording. I think there are some interviews somewhere that say it's a violin too...regardless, it could be played on a viola too, but it's easier on a violin...
