Legendary, rogue advertising stunt - this unsolicited and ultimately unwanted beer ad aired locally twice, in both the USA and Canada, during the DAVID LETTERMAN show, in October of 2004.

The fake ad's narrative involves the equally bizarre true story of a Canadian foot/bike messenger who was forced to take the Queen of England (and her agents, Revenue Canada) to court, in order to win the right to claim an income tax deduction for extra food and liquid that he claimed was the fuel that powered his delivery vehicle.

'FOOD as FUEL' is now an accepted reality in Canadian tax law.

  • great vid buddy! so many people (rookies and the public) are unaware of all the years of hard work that are being put in "behind the scenes" to better our community. you are the man, and I for one want to send out a BIG thanks for everything you have personally done for everyone! THANKS!! YOU ROCK!!

    -Leah

  • Thanks soooo much, Leah.

Still, without the job being done, each day, by every one of this country's foot and bicycle messenger fleet, my argument would never have been heard.

My contribution pales in comparison to that of today's messengers, upon whose shoulders the burden of truly sustainable, urban goods mobility, falls.

Every breathing earthling jeopardized by climate change, global warming, smog, polution, congestion and auto-induced road carnage owes you folks a beer!!!

  • Scunny my friend. I am grinning from ear to ear. I say again you are the man. And is that the Difficult Musicians I hear bookending this vid? Great job!

    peace

  • Thanks again, my brother. Yes the music at the head and tail of is an instrumental version of title track of theDifficultMusicians' much delayed debut album "OUT HERE ON THE STREET".

  • Jebus! that bird has amazing knockers!

  • I was a bike messenger in SF back in 1980. Those were some wild days, before bikes & riders had any ID numbers displayed. There were several really great rest areas around the city where messengers would coffee & toke up before jumping back into the rushing river of traffic. As well, there were a few great messenger bars for after work. I'm curious what most of those cats are doing now 30 years later. That would make a good doc film!

  • THANK YOU
