Well, considering the F1 CAN FULLY PULL OFF a 7th gear, they should offer to upgrade the engines for certain McLaren F1s, like the "ultimate" F1. And imagine putting a super/turbo charger in this NATURALLY aspirated beauty, coupled with a 7th gear, The F1 will then regain it's place as fastest production car in the world!

@ElSilao11 1. learn to type 2. get your facts straight the McLaren is a better racing car than the veyron 3. they couldnt continue production of the F1 because it cost more money to make it than they sold it for so they were losing money on it 4. to people saying put a turbo on it it just needs a seven speed gearbox

you're making a big fuss out of an example. i said ssc and veyron. I didnt say specifically SSC. I could also say SSC, koenigsegg saleen veyron veyron SS......

And I am no SSC fanboy. I like the fact that SSC is simply the fastest accelerating production roadcar out there. It may do nothing else good, but in terms of speed race, and that is what supercars are primarily made for , it is #1. And im not just stating an opinion.I have data to prove it.

What kind of an idiot would buy a SSC anyway? How many have been sold? How many ordered? How many have been roadtested in Top Gear or any other independent car magazine?

Actually the reason a non-turbo engine was chosen was because Gordon Murray decided he didn't want one in a pure driver's car. You see turbocharged engines are difficult to drive effectively in corners, whereas a naturally aspirated engine is very responsive to the throttle input of the driver.

This was a highly unusual approach in the 90's since all other "rival" supercars at the time had twin turbochargers. Jaguar XJ220, Bugatti EB110 (actually had 4), Ferrari F40, Porsche 959.

@TMWShadowStarr actually is not posible to put a supercharger in this BMW motor, it doesnt allows that, but yeah with a 7th gear, the car could reach maybee... 400 or 410km/h..

See no point, F1 is far more beautiful than MP4. It has its own style and personality. MP4 doesnt, it´s just generic sports car design.

@TMWShadowStarr The F1 is a 20 year old design, why would they spoil one of the greatest cars from the past just? As for putting a turbocharger on an F1 engine, it would blow up. NA engines have really high compression rates to achieve high power, modding it to safely apply a turbo (reducing compression) would be too much work, might aswel replace the engine for something more suited to running a turbo, which would defy the point.

old mclaren is boss....... a veryon is a heavy piece of crap... not to mention 12 radiators and bi turbos... OLD MCLAREN WAS NATURALLY ASPIRATED.... the engine was lined with GOLD PEOPLE!! CATCH A WAKE UP!!! it takes INNOVATION to make a supercar.... there is NO INNOVATION in the new one, great car but nothing special for the year 2011...!!!!! THUBMS UP FOR THE OLD BABY !

Some of those F1's have the door mirrors halfway up the a-pillar and others are mounted at the bottom.
