Pirate Master opening credits. Intro of Mark Burnett's ill-fated Pirates of the Caribbean inspired Survivor on pirate ships. Russ Landau, the composer of the various Survivor theme songs, won an Emmy for best theme song in 2008 for Pirate Master.

I've noticed that some of the people on this show remind me of some of the contestants that I have seen on "Survivor" For example, Louie reminds me of Rupert, Jay reminds me of Russell Hantz, Nessa reminds me of Parvati playing the flirt card and getting men on her side, Kendra being dubbed as the weakest person throughout reminds me of Sandra, and when Christa commented that she wanted to compete against the strongest competitors at the end of the game reminds me of Coach's philosophy! NEAT!!

John is perhaps the BEST first boot in reality tv history. (BB3's Lori and S21's Wendy Jo are close too).

A very underrated reality TV show imo. JD's and Azmyth's powerridden powerstruggles make for some very engaging television and once Christa is crowned Captainess it becomes even better. (Laurel's boot being extremely intense due to the tension between Christa, Ben and Jay).

The only real downside is Jay sucking up a tremendous amount of airtime Likable as he was, it was just plain overkill

If they had continued this show, they really needed to change some of the rules for the second season, it was too unbalanced.

@SpanishFly120 I finally got into it the week before it got canceled, it was annoying to have to watch it on the website afterwards but that's when it finally got good and they took it off the air! so dumb

It wasn't that bad and the viewers weren't that bad for a reality show, especially nowadays. Really CBS had no reason to cancel it they were just being assholes

@MrInhibitor Yeah, I picked up the whole season on ioffer. I think there's a torrent out there somewhere. It's a shame it got moved around and canceled because not only was the episode right after it got canceled absolutely epic and awesome, but the season in general was surprisingly good. I dunno, it could be me, but I think if it got a chance at a second season, there'd definitely be potential.
