if it wasn't for my use of shea butter i would have became bald. so i embrace my natural for the last seven years and i am proud grandmother of three, and a mother of three. i am not
here to tell anyone what they should do with their hair it is your choice, but please ladies
do not get mad with this sister who is celebrating her new found freedom. we are all entitled to our opinion.

I went natural because i grew tired of the thinning hair, no i never was bald, but i have had some bad experiences. When i reached my 40's i had a moment. It was time to let go of the relaxed hair and i went to braids, and even the africa sisters braided my hair so tight, my ends
started to come out.

i am just curious, how does a relaxed hair be healthy, with the type of chemicals they use to straightened your tightly coiled hair, because as you get older your hair do thin, and if you are on medication it makes it worst.

This is interesting to me. I use to think it was true, that black girls could ONLY grow hair to their ears. Then it breaks off. Untill I saw this clip. SO, you mean to tell me that this is just a MYTH? I ACTUALLY hope that its IS just a myth. Because it NEVER really made sense to me. The problem is, I've NEVER seen a black woman (UNLESS SHE IS MIXED) with NATURAL HAIR DOWN HER BACK. Lalachiki, I'm counting on you to tell me the truth. IS IT POSIBLE FOR A NON-MIXED BLACK WOMAN TO GROW LONG HAIR?

But its odd that most black women have a preference for straight hair over natural. Hmm...??

and am currently going on the journey to my natural hair. Only God knows if I'll make it. However, I pray to God that I don't encounter this type of ignorance getting there. God bless my beautiful sisters, stay strong for each other.

Honestly it makes me sad to hear all the judgement we go from one extreme to another, really it's about personal choice. Our focus as women, black women especially, should be supporting and lifting each other up, not tearing each other down. The irony here is that the hate we project, no matter the subject, is exactly what someone else wants us to do to each other. So if you look at me and hate the way I wear my hair, shouldn't you be ashamed just because u hate..... I have permed hair...
This "truth" is very biased and generalized. Whats wrong with wearing your hair straight? As long as its yours whats the problem? My hair is relaxed, I wear it so not because Im ashamed, its a style choice. Your perception of relaxed hair and how to take care of it is incorrect and biased. Relaxed and natural both need care. Dont tell women to be ashamed of what they do to their hair, if anything encourage/help, instead of bashing just to promote natural hair! but i do respect your opinion

Look both are expensive!Once you go natural you must learn your hair and that could take money we dont want it dry and brittle,or crazy looking.Second im natural also with curly fro it sometimes dose take up time detangleing.I think what they mean is like the detangleing, combing, and styleing.Actually a relaxer is easier cause detangleing is usually not involved for people with extremely fast life styles.I dont agree with chemicals in hair but if u do id say go with texture softener. NO WEAVE!!
