  • How much break in to hunting boots with insulation have? If I wear an 11 D in a normal boot should i get an 11.5 EE Hunting boot to fit my thick socks?

  • Depends on the boot. A neoprene insulated boot will stretch to conform to your foot more, as will a full-grain leather boot. So you should be fine with those in a D width. A boot with a synthetic upper won't stretch as much, and you may have to try different widths. As with any shoe, it's best to try it on first with the socks you plan on wearing during most use.

  • Thanks. I've been looking hard at a pair of Rockys. Full leather upper with 800 Thinsulate. I had little time and I tried on the 11D with my standard cotton work sock and it felt really tight across the tops of my feet. So i went with an 11.5 Wide thinking it would fit well with my thick socks...but after getting them home and into the thick socks i think once they were to break in they would end up being too loose.
