luchino visconti was an hedonist, he loved beauty in all its shapes, that's why his actors (but also actresses like claudia cardinale, alida valli,silvana mangano ecc) were beautiful. Helmut Berger was his lover until his death, i know alain delon and massimo girotti refused him because they were not homosexual. anyway, he was a great director and it was an honour for me visiting his tomb in ischia ( his home was wonderful too! that's why i say he loved beauty) greetings from Italy, of course
