@bebenavole if you're interested, look up Paco Pena playing the rondena for a good example of the classical flamenco position

Hey, sorry I didn't answer you sooner! It's called a NeckUp, used to help hold the guitar in place.
If I hold it like a normal steel string player (horizontal on the right leg), my left wrist becomes very strained. If I sit in the classical position with a footstool, my lower back starts to hurt after a while.
I've recently been using a classical flamenco position, but occasionally still use the neck up.

What does this have to do with my question? There is something on his leg holding the guitar in this position. I just want to know what it is.
Thanx
peace

@bebenavole I am guessing by his technique that he is a classically trained guitarist as you never see his thumb come over the top lol! I know it isn't unusual for classical players to use devices to keep the guitar in proper position as well as their feet.

whats that you got between the guitar and the leg?

Just bought a Republic Resolian and over the moon with it loved this very inspirational as I am a virtual newcomer to serious guitar study. Great stuff.
Sounds good man! Have you tried having the action lowered and/or a lighter string gauge?

Thanks man, I haven't experimented with the action yet, but I put new strings on and it's a bit easier to play.
I kind of enjoy that it's really hard to play - makes it a challenge
