Update on area sports, Ramsey County to hold public hearing - "Sun Focus Today" - Monday, Nov. 2

The first week of November is a busy time for high school athletics, with section and state meets and tournaments scheduled for several sports, including volleyball, soccer, football and cross-country running. Tonight, Nov. 2, the Fridley Tiger volleyball team will play a section match at 6 p.m. vs. the team from the PACT Charter School of Ramsey. The match will be played at Rockford High School, located at 7600 County Road 50 in Rockford. Following the Fridley match, the St. Anthony Village Huskies team will take to the Rockford court against the Delano Tigers, with an approximate 7:30 p.m. starting time. The winners of tonight's matches will face each other at 7 p.m. Thursday at Rockford. The section final will be decided Saturday night, Nov. 7, in Big Lake.

The Ramsey County Charter Commission will hold a public hearing at 6:30 p.m. tonight to discuss a potential charter amendment related to the seven elected County Commissioners' salaries. The regular meeting of the commission will follow the hearing. The meeting will be held in the council chambers, third floor, at the Ramsey County Court House/St. Paul City Hall, 15 West Kellogg Blvd., St. Paul.

Donations to Project Bookshelf will be accepted at all Anoka County Library locations and the Columbia Heights Public Library through the month of November. Bring donations of new, unwrapped books for children and young adults to a library or the Anoka County History Center. Books collected will be given to Anoka County food shelves including ACBC, CEAP, Centennial Community Food Shelf, NACE and SACA for distribution to children in need.
