An old Canadian folk song recorded by Wade Hemsworth in the 1950s. It's about his experience working in Northern Ontario, though you might guess that from the lyrics. This is one of my favorite songs to play, though there are a few problems areas in my version of it. I'm doing the version that he rerecorded for a great animated short. Shadflies don't bite at all, at least not humans. But they are a pain because they emerge in early summer in hordes. easy to swallow and, once, my dad made the mistake of painting the garage door just when the shadflies emerged. The door was thick with the bugger and had to be dried and completely re-sanded.
