This is a video of a live captured House Sparrow using the Arapuca.
The bird was not harmed and set free.
The Arapuca Bird-Trap is a simple method for the live-capture of birds. It is commonly used in Brazil to catch birds for food or pets.
It is easy to construct and only really requires bait, study cordage, and relatively straight sticks.
Please follow ethical trapping guidelines:
Do not leave traps behind
Check traps often
Use caution when setting a trap
Traps are indiscriminate killers; you have to eat what you kill...even the neighbors Pomeranian....so be careful where you set them
NOTE: In a serious survival situation setting traps for anything smaller than a chipmunk may not be worth the caloric effort of setting up the trap.
WARNING: Most primitive traps are illegal to use in most states. Unless under a life-or-death survival situation it is not recommended that you use them. This video was shot for educational purposes. No animals were harmed.
