It's my pleasure to share with you a video program from my childhood, entitled "Five Sesame Street Stories," courtesy of the fine folks at Children's Television Workshop and Golden Book Video. The entire program is shown as it is on the original VHS. I am uploading this due to people requesting this to be uploaded. I guess it's cause my YouTube Poop on this video turned out to be so popular!

Part 5 covers the final story "Big Bird Brings Spring to Sesame Street," and then the closing credits. Big Bird is tired of a long dreary winter. He buys a bouquet of beautiful flowers and ends up giving them all away. Big Bird brings spring to EVERYBODY on Sesame Street.

NOTE: The reason why Count von Count and Ernie do not speak is because Jerry Nelson and Jim Henson were unavailable to do voices for this video for some reason, so the narrator (Fran Brill) had to merely describe what they were saying to Big Bird. Maria is also renamed "Dolores," most likely because she was voiced by someone other than Sonia Manzano.

I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did.

  • It'd be sweet if they remade this into a real episode in one of the current seasons. Dolores could be replaced with Leela.

  • @ZNKChannel No way, Dolores should be replaced with MARIA! That's whom it was in the original book.

The sick Betty Lou could be replaced with Zoe or Abby Cadabby or Prairie Dawn...

  • @wileyk209zback I said Leela because they should at least use ONE current cast member to replace someone. Not as a bad thing, just to... you get what I mean, right?

  • @ZNKChannel Yes, but if you want a current case member, we could add Alan to Hooper's store (we don't see who's operating it in the book.)

  • I owned both the video and the book as a kid and I remember being confused as to why "Dolores" was named Maria in the book - at the time I couldn't think of why they'd make it different :p

The one part that's stuck out in my memory all these years is the part when she falls and Big Bird's worried voice when he says "Aww Dolores! Are you hurt?" lol I remember thinking it was "Golores" XD

Thanks for the upload! Until now the last time I saw this was on VHS in something like 1996. Great memories :)

  • @Jianlibao I was also originally confused about the Maria/Dolores thing, too. And I always thought Maria/Dolores's falling effect was pretty darn funny!

  • Ha, you got to love Carol Spinney's ability to do both Oscar and Big Bird in a scene together. :D

I remeber seeing this one when I was a kid and this brings back so many good memories. :)
