Interview prior to Wimbledon 2002 (Rosmalen, Holland). Roger was stunned 6-3 7-6 6-3 by the at that time unknown 18-year-old Croatian qualifier Mario Ancic in the first round of Wimbledon. But in this interview it was already clear to see he became a more and more determined professional.

  • thx for the video! I wonder if that young Roger came to our 2012 world, what will happen when he plays against Rafa or Nole?

  • Looks like a Prince.

  • he should grow beard again...

  • But seriously he is he same huy all the time, he was young and free(?) then but he was the sam Roger as he is now just listen to him

  • Wow! Great early Federer interview. His english has improved soooo much!!!:) u can just see that hunger in his eyes... and he was right about the "maybe next year thing"! He'll be the Best Player EVER for as long as any of us will be around...for sure!!! Wouldn't surprise me one bit if he'd win one or two Slams next year. His been finally playing like the Federer of old this fall! And he'll win Olympic Gold next year! Anyone want to bet on it?....LOL

  • he looked so badass with his long hair and scruff.

he was classy even in interviews before winning any slams. natural class.

  • Roger with a beard and long hair?!?!? This was before Mirka and Anna Wintour started the fashion makeover to give us the fabulous Federer that we all know and love today. lol

  • @hyperbole2 He had to stop playing tennis because of mono. He cant ever play any sport.

  • his voice didn't change, still sounds the same,if not better.

  • roger with a beard haha!
