  • Yes, heaven on earth.

    Many thanks!

  • @speaks3703 neither did I hear the piano and the bass brass. I liked the strings in this clip however.

  • the four-hand piano part is integral to this piece...where is it??? The brass should also be playing at octave pitch in certain cases, bu they did not.

  • bevor mein cousin an krebs starb, organisierte er seine beerdigung bis ins detail - und wünschte sich dieses meisterwerk zum abschied am grab...

  • @JacobSprenger: Excellent comment! I was enthralled by this piece while watching a short film about France at EPCOT, Walt Disney World--but I think I first heard the "reggaefied" version in "Babe." The cast kindly provided me with a list of songs used in the film and I wiki'd this symphony. The info stated that Saint-Saens completed it in 1886 and dedicated it to his good friend, composer Franz Liszt, who died that same year.

Many thanks to Gulalongondrina for this sublime post.

  • @pvcforever: Search for Scott Fitzgerald and Yvonne Keeley performing "If I Had Words", which is the song from the Babe soundtrack you are referring to. It was made in the 70s (means: chosen for the movie, but not specifically made for it) and, as am4516 already mentioned, is indeed a reggaefied cover version of this exact piece with lyrics added.

  • @pvcforever This is the melody from Babe. Lyrics were simply added to certain parts of the symphony.

  • the piano?????

  • director Richard Charron, a high school orchestra, i've been in it!
