This video demonstrates the experimental multi-touch system I developed on the 5800.

The game idea was a simple derivative of guitar hero or DDR whereby you press a button or buttons along with the music.

The two major problems with this idea on this specific platform are:

1) Button layout, the buttons need to be in an easy to reach location , but also that will not require the phone to be shifted around to reach other keys. also when pressing the buttons its important that the main game play area is not obscured by the players hands.

2) most touchscreen devices are still only single touch capable. this severly reduces the number of button presses available. unlike a traditional keypad which allows for combos.

Both of these issues have been overcome as you can see in the video. The game is very early on in design but the underlying technology is the real product that i'm showcasing.

Many thanks to www.danceaway64.co.uk for providing the music and to www.symbian-freak.com for the best symbian related news site online.

Updates can can be found at www.jamiefuller.com

Please let me know your thoughts, I'm also looking for a good graphic designer to help with graphics and a few people to play-test when its a little further along the development chain.

This will be a freeware game.

  • hi all, the 'game' is now available for download at my site, link in comment.

  • i think it is not multi-touch

if u touch left point and right point at the same time,

the middle point will be select.

so i think this game is faking us.

if u touch the middle of two balls,

both of them will light up.

  • You are correct but please do not mis-understand the concept of this system.

It is NOT designed to be a replacement for the OS or to be like the iPoop. it is purely to over come the limitations I had when designing this game. there is no 'faking' because it was never purporting to being full multi-touch.

  • How is the progress

  • its coming on, but very slowly...danceaway64 has designed 3 very cool sound tracks for the game and I will hopefully has a betatest version soon.

  • GREAT!

I hope that someone do a good RPG for 5800.

  • you don't need the game. just sell your idea to nokia so they can implement the multitouch function on some of their software updates..

  • @30dirtybirds you are saying that it was never purpoting to being FULL multi-touch,but you cant say such thing because there is No multi-touch at all.

  • @AmonAmarth166 yea like 3D fallout or diablo for phone lol

  • me gusta

  • Wish that would get implemented on the i8910 omnia hd...

  • what the fuck is this dude ?

  • I still can't get it. Isn't 5800 have a resistive touchscreen? In my knowledge, only capacitive touchscreen is capable of multitouch gestures while resistive is capable of detecting only single touch.

Correct me, but are demonstrating that resistive touchscreen can do multitouch? Even if only 2 inputs at a time, Its incredible! because most of the games drive me crazy due to lack of multitouch in 5233, e.g., toonwarz.

  • @anateamo98 can't please everyone.

  • убогий голос.

  • Looks extremely funny..

  • Like the idea dude. Have a look / listen to Aurifi!
