Colorado Midland Route Railway is owned and operated by the Denver Society of Model Railroaders est. 1933
This engineer view video was taken about 15 years ago by member Jim Brandenburg for the DSMR. A standard gauge track tour of the original layout built from 1935 to 1980. Since this video was taken an additional actual 1/2 mile of track has been completed through the Mine and Leadville. See the remaining 4 parts to this video.
The tour starts in Springs Yard along side of East Yard and proceeds through Kieser's Corner and to the East reverse loop at Freeman Industrial Yards. You return back through Kieser's Corner and through Springs Yard passing the Engine House built in the 1920's then approach tunnel 1.
The Colorado Midland Route Railway is the oldest O scale 2 rail layout in the USA. It is also one of the largest layouts in the world. We encompass a 7200 square foot finished scenic layout in a 10,000 square foot room in the basement of Denver Union Station. The layouts origins date from 1935. Today, over 76 years later the layout has undergone major electrical improvements such as DCC and refinements and additions. For more information go to our website: http://denveroscaleclub.org
