This is Il Palio di Siena, a centuries old tradition held in the Piazza del Campo in Siena, Italy. Of the 17 traditional neighborhoods, 10 have the honor to field a horse and jockey twice each year. The daily lives of the city's residents revolve around this unique event. On this day, the neighborhood (or Contrada) named Giraffa won the coveted race. All photos and video by Phil Garcia.
