TAKING OFF TIP AND PAD AND THEN DRILLING THROUGH FERRULE AND SHAFT TO SHOW HOW IT IS MADE ON THE INSIDE.

    I'm based in SoCal so I'm not too far from you. I did miss the last cuemakers' gathering near SF last November. Maybe next year, I can make it.

  • Ya I know Joey. But their not foam filled. It is silicone calking. It it used not only to dampen the sound but also to dampen the vibrations thet travel up & down the shaft which allows the cue ball to come off more accurately. As for the carbon fiber ferrule, it is not needed. I think I proved that with my cues over the last eight years. The carbon fiber pad just adds weight. By the way Joey, Do you build Cues? Where can I see some of your stuff?

  • OB is not secretive about their shafts.

    They are hollow and foam-filled to dampen the sound.

    The front is very light so it deflects off the cueball more ( so the cueball doesn't deflect off the tip ).

    The carbon fiber is to protect the wood-laminated ferrule from splitting.

  • The first time I hit with an OB shaft I was impressed. I new that they had to of been drilled out real deep. Well when we were doing a exabition with our robotic cue machine, a customer that had a OB shaft seen the small amount of deflection in it and paid us to remove the silicone calking in the first 11 inches of the shaft in order to lighten it and further decrease the deflection. This video was actually filmed about a year ago. Way before OB was showing people how they were made.
