I've always found bioluminescent organisms to be the most amazing.. and i had no idea that the larval stage looked so much like the adult!

There you can see at which point artificall lighting can affect glow worm life.She suddenly stopped to show her light, and as we know they use the light to atract a mate. Too much artificall light doesn´t allow them to view each other.

I never seen these in England but when I went to Germany I seen loads - First time i saw one I thought it was someones mobile phone dropped in the bushes. A bright green light just like an LED. Have to catch one and check it out properly - don't worry I have no intention of harming anything.

I have seen the eggs and pupae of glow worms like this glowing constantly in the wild in Atlanta GA.

females are a bit similar with larvae, yes.

But not males, though.
