@nicbarrow Very nicely said. I hear that the F430 Challenge cars's computers screw up when accompanied by the straight cut gears! This is partially why they aren't used in the challenge... and the fact that it is set up mostly like a road car :)

yes if you put your car in reverse - that gear is STRAIGHT CUT with no synchromesh (which allows a smoother and quiter gear change for road cars in their forward gears), then the whining sound you hear is what these guys get to hear with EVERY forward gear!!!! The sequential gearbox you can see him using is like that in a motor cycle - pull down for up change (with no clutch depression IE a 'flat shift') and push forward for downchange (often needing the clutch depending on the box used)

the sequential transmission is the one making the noise, the gears are straight-cut gears... :)
