@kmaculate Mmm, not exactly... the egg itself is an extremely tiny thing in what we humans think of as a "period". I mean, that word evokes images of mostly blood and mucus, doesn't it? That's the shedded lining of the uterus, not the egg at all. When we eat chicken eggs, all of the gory uterine matter is cleaned off thoroughly. What we're actually consuming is the same nutritional sac that a baby bird uses as food while it's growing inside the egg. Designed by nature to be yummy! :)

Thanks for all the wonderful comments. In answer to your many questions - the x and o's are so the kids can keep track of turning them each day. Also - yes we do release tnem into their natural habitat. We don't eat them.
