Martin Amis in conversation with Christopher Hitchens
Martin Amis talks to Christopher Hitchens about Saul Bellow with whom he developed an intimate friendship, about the role of the writer as intellectual, the threat of political correctness to the comic novel, Islam, Israel and horrorism.

Martin Amis is considered as one of the most influential and innovative voices in contemporary British fiction. He is the author of novels, short stories and essays. His most recent book is House of Meetings.

Christopher Hitchens left the UK for the US in 1981 where he is columnist and contributing editor at Vanity Fair. Both an atheist and anti-atheist, an iconoclast, anti-fascist and humanist, he was voted in 2005 fifth out of the worlds top one hundred public intellectuals.

  • @patrickm433 I think Bellow was lying to make himself seem more qualified...

  • You got minus six marks because you have an opinion and Jews are knee jerk loyalists to ANYTHING jewish.

  • I agree that two million starved by Bronstein is not as bad as 20 million killed in wwII by hitler's actions.

Can you imagine, seriously, sitting on your farm, wondering what your crying children will eat? why? because urban (sorry but true) jews took your seed stock to feed the top party members?

Why can't people give their loyalty to HUMANITY first.

Hichens falls deeping for jewish tribalism.

BTW, did you read how the partner is Bernie Madoff was found at the bottom of his pool?

  • The trinity of horro is Hitler, Stalin and Mao. The crimes committed by Trotsky and Lenin never came close to the level of the former three. Hitchens took part in a whole session of "uncommon knowledge" devoted to Trotsky in which Hitchens is very critical of him....

  • he's making that point because jews keep pushing their jewishness on everyone.

These morons think we should be proud that freud was a jew. Are you proud that he thought that women's psychological problems are caused by "penis envy"

Read the Rolling Stones piece on Goldman Sachs this month if you don't think there is a problem with jewish tribalism.

  • And I've gotta state that when you use sentences like "Jews are great for society!?", it does indeed look as though you're endicting all jews on a general level, not just some of them.

  • Well, I didn't intend to create a strawman. But it certainly looks like you see a correlation between being jewish and being greedy. If you acknowledge that being jewish doesn't predispose one to do bad things then I don't understand why you make special note of the fact that some of these people happen to be jewish.

  • You're making a straw man argument. Obviously all jews are not thieves anymore than all germans were nazis in wwii.

BUT, enough were that they did a hell of a lot of damage.
