@Shanna3104 Lol, I thought the same thing cause I'm new to her music. I was like What?!
-
well, seeing as how billy ray cyrus writes most of her songs, yeah :P
but she's better than him too, so it's okay :]

@roseinthepages I like this version much better than the studio track too. Maybe because I can see her perform it. Seems more personal.

I was kinda pissed when I saw the title of this video beccause Ani NEVER plays half assed...and then I realized thats the title of the song, lol! love the song...

It's not a bass. It's a tenor guitar. The gauge of the strings, the tuning and the scale are completely different from a bass. It's actually a transitional instrument, in a way. In the 20's banjos were being replaced by guitars in bands and orchestras so the tenor guitar was developed so banjo players could double on guitar without having to learn a new instrument. The tenor guitar is played the same as a tenor banjo and is very popular in Irish music.

i love this version so much. i think more so than the studio track (?)

@leatherman665 : Tenor Guitar

The guitar is a Cromwell Tenor from the 1930's which was made by Gibson. They made guitars under dozens of sub-brands throughout the 30's. This type of guitar suits Ani's vehement playing style.

anyone know the tuning

@choirgirl891 - Miley who? ;)
Ani Difranco is more of a poet than Miley Cyrus will ever be.

she never intended to be. shes truthfull to her, thats more than we can say about most bands and singers out there. the fact shes still on the record lable she opened at 18 says alot for how she just wanted to play music and fuck the politics
