Secret Bunkers Being Built in DC in 2009-2010

I know, via the show Modern Marvels - "Built to Last" show that aired in 2010 that bunkers designed to keep people underground for up to 5 years have recently been built in Washington DC. These bunkers were ordered in secret and each cost over 2 million dollars... a rounding error in the US budget so they could easily be hidden from public scrutiny.

@burner208 don't you find it disturbing that you find it amusing that we are living in an authoritarian despotism? The very idea that someone like me would be put on any government list is in itself quite frightening and just shows how far we've fallen from our once great republican (as in republican form of government, not GOP) roots. We are no longer a constitutional republic whose sole purpose is to protect its citizens unalienable individual rights, but rather we've become a tyranny!

For all I know, we could peacefully return to a more agrarian society... but, chances are that we will descend into chaos and that millions of people will panic... go nuts and start looting and breaking stuff... and we'll have a complete break down of society for anywhere from 3 to 60 months. Imagine the entire country (except a few isolate pockets) turning into the aftermath of Katrina... imagine the chaos and panic and looting.

@cassanoa Yes. If you don't have an escape route from the city you live in... develop one. Save up food and water... guns and ammo and be ready. There is really nothing we can do to prevent a total currency collapse... This is why people like Gov Perry are saying that printing more money right now is treasonous... its because he knows that printing more money will collapse this economy.

Were do you think all the Trillions of dollars went to ? There spending ,money they know that can't pay back, ( never had any intention to ) For all of the Polititions and the family's. There people in the Med field and so on that will be saved. i know but if you look at the average American -they have been bought and payed for with bread and circus-so much has happened and the populous still will not raise up -and lets not forget those who are building the bunkers are the ones who saw this coming because they created the situation and they are counting on a massive breakdown to burn off what they refer to "useless eaters" the best place to locate is on the outskirts of a city not to far or to close and establish a hidden room-bunker

i would expect such a situation to last as long as there are resources to fuel the fire -when the food and medicine are depleted the end will come quickly-i believe that the Katrina even was observed but government as a type of a real live lab experiment and that they gathered real world data -thats why the bunkers are built and ready -i think your right -we just have to create our own hide out to ride out the storm -personally i think if it goes longer than 9 months -that could be a problem
