Roughriders Claim Oly Showdown
PORT ANGELES — The showdown for first place in the Olympic League standings was largely decided in the second quarter.
The Port Angeles Roughriders took the lead in the second quarter and held the King Buccaneers at arms length the rest of the way to win 47-37 on Tuesday night.
PA outscored Kingston 20-8 in the second quarter, punctuating it with a 6-0 run. The Riders kept the lead around 10 points the rest of the way to take a two-game lead atop the league standings.
Kiah Jones had three steals and three assists and held Kingston guard Sophia Baetz to nine points, 11 below her average. Jessica Madsion scored 16 points, eight below her average, Skylar Jones had 10 points and 10 rebounds and Taylyn Jeffers had eight points and 10 rebounds.
PA was 8-for-8 at the line in the fourth quarter to seal the deal. Skylar Jones hit six of the free throws.
