Winds picked up early this morning before the sun rose. 115km winds have been recorded nearby.

Dust is thick it's coming through the window seals cause it's so fine.

Now the rain has started with some hail, the dust becomes like a cement and needs to be washed off cars before it hardens!

  • It looks like a scene out of War of the Worlds booklet that came with the cd/record by Jeff Wayne.

  • I would say it is like being in hell. Scary. I experienced something vaguely like this with the 1981 Mt. St. Helens volcano eruption.

  • i would have peed my pants that is scary

  • We get storm like this in Lubbock, TX all the time. More of a red or pink color, but just as surreal.

  • Who? I never heard anyone saying that.

  • lol thats what they all say

  • Reminds of the movie, "Total Recall". As if Mars came to Australia.

    the dust storm hit sydney

  • Yeah seems it went through Canberra yesterday and hit sydney this morning.

Its a bit more crazy for us though, since for broken hill its not rare to have a dust storm. (drove through the insane one on a roadtrip to BH last holiday, was epic)
