Pan American four engine clipper landing at airport, people deplaning, President Vargas exits limo. Various, crowded streets filled with people dancing and sing to Samba bands, some people in costumes and masks. Various MSs, CUs, dancing groups, individuals, ornately costumed people. This can't be footage from 1955: Getulio Vargas, the late Brazilian President, appears in it... and he commited suicide in 1954! Great to see Rio in its better days, though. Thanks travelfilmarchive.

1955 is the release date of the film. The footage was shot in 1954, before Vargas committed suicide, but the film was not completed and released until 1955.
