I'm sorry, I love Trek. But that city in the clouds is the best they could do with remastering? FAIL!

I think, in all of the remasterings, what they're going for is to NOT have it be so realistic that it doesn't mesh with the rest fo the footage very well. That's what I was afraid they'd do when I heard about this. So, it's almost like they use CG to replicate the look of what they might have made the city look like with models in the 60s, if they'd had a bigger budget and pulled it off perfectly. That restraint is just as it should be in my view.

I love the new FX but you also have to consider that the new FX crew got a very limited budget and had to stretch it to 79 odd episodes.

At 0:45 the city looks like Bespin from "Empire strikes back".

This Episode was Awful. The only good part was watching Captain Kirk really lose his Temper and Backhand the Nasty Oppresive Ruler of the City in the Clouds.

The Ruler of the City in the Clouds makes me think of the Ruler of the Island of Jamaica that Errol Flynn is sentenced to as a prisoner in Captain Blood. Lionel Atwill played the Governor of Jamaica. Olivia Dehavilland played the Beautiful daughter of Lionel atwill that falls for Errol Flynn. See the Parralell?

@MrHamlet64 As much as I love Star Trek, it's hardly comparable to the Mona Lisa. Most of the "enhancing" was done to external shots of the ship. Otherwise they purposely added as little as possible. The biggest job was removing scratches and overall improvement of the video quality. After watching the enhanced effects, one of the original effects technicians said, "That's just how we would have done it." If it's good enough for the old guys...
