This is a video from a cyclic load test at the base of a paper tower constructed by students of Civil Engineering and Geomatics at the Cyprus University of Technology. First year students in groups of 7 were given 2kg of used A4 paper, a 45m long masking tape and 10.5m of plastic string. Their main objective was to design within 2 hours the tallest possible tower with the given material, which will sustain a cyclic load at the base of approximately 30 cycles in 20 seconds.
