If you watch any of the interviews with Koresh still in the compound, the children showed no signs of being held hostage, they stayed without restraint. Any who wanted to leave had left. They weren't insane, the ones who survived showed no signs of mental disabilities, the government and news media put that "insane cult religious" crap out there so they wouldn't look so bad burning children on live T.V.
