Before the song "The Surfer Moon" was recorded by The Beach Boys, it was recorded at United-Western Recording Studios in Hollywood under the title "The Summer Moon".

Brian Wilson wrote and produced this recording, while Glen Campbell played guitar and Hal Blaine was on drums. Vickie Kocher (aka Victoria Hale) and Bob Norberg are singing.

  • This in the only one that exists. It is autographed by both Bob and Vickie. There is a second recording of "The Summer Moon" on the same acetate....with very slight vocal differences on that version.

  • Thanks for posting this. Fun facts. The Beach Boys' vocals are superior, primarily because of Brian's beautiful youthful voice, but this is definitely a nice rendition.

  • I read your article in Endless summer Quarterly today .It was great !

  • She's a lovely lady.

  • I love it :o)

  • That's interesting! Not sure if you are aware, but tapes of some of the other collaborations between Vickie, Bob, and Brian exist, including:

    "The Big Beat"

    "First Rock and Roll Bash"

    "Ride Away"

  • Thanks for posting this -- I'm Brian Wilson collector and this version had been written about, but I'd never heard it! If Vickie has more acetates from her sessions with Brian and Bob I'd certainly love to hear them!
