Inky and Puddin', both former stray American Pit Bull Terriers, are wrestling in the yard when one finds a bone that I forgot to pick up before letting them out together. Both girls eat raw meaty bones daily and Puddin' is known to hide her goodies, so I have to check the yard carefully before turning them loose together. I had Puddin' for almost a month before I let them play together offleash, before that I walked them together daily so they could relax around each other and also learn that *I* am the boss and would determine when they interacted and when they wouldn't. Bones and toys often set off fights between any breeds, not just for pit bulls, so these should be removed if there's any sign of resource guarding or dominance. Note how roughly these females play, with some growling and raised hackles plus toothy snapping. All of these signs can be interpreted as potentially agressive or as playful, you have to read the whole dog body. I do seperate them after about 15 minutes of rough play as Inky keeps bullying Puddin' to wrestle and bite, which sets Puddin' on edge. Puddin' is available for adoption in Houston, TX.
