since this is a comparo of 2+2 SPORTS cars, GC obviously would win. RX8 is great but too extreme and unique. G37 is too luxury, and personally I think the G37 looks too plain. Nice review guys.

Infiniti should be compared to the BMW, Audi and Mercedes coupes.
Out of the Hyundai and Mazda's league... just different cars. one is luxury with performance, others are just attempting performance.
Test the mazda and hyundai against the Nissan 370Z ...

why the 04 I dont understand either, I too drive the R3, series 2 RX8, my opinion is that it looks much more refined and also rated 3rd by Car and Driver for best handling sports cars under 100k! Also there was no mention of flicking the traction control off on the 8... I find it transforms my car into a whole new driving experience...It may burn the gas but in my opinion the new rx8s are definitely better looking :)

Buy a G37 if you want a reliable car with no surprises...buy an RX8 for something fun to drive that is a complete wildcard that has no torque and will have its share of problems.
-
@thedenimvault I drive my R3 everyday.Sure, I pay at the pump and miss the power but its a thrill to drive on the track. I'm curious they didn't do one the '09+ Rx8's, the old ones had a lot of problems

That rotary in the RX-8 has no place being in an everyday driver car. It is way too gas hungry, and finding a clean running example is more trouble than it's worth

G37 shouldn't even be here too expensive by comparison, Genesis Wins overall.

haha todd put the g37 in last, even though it's the most expensive, most luxurious, best performing, and most reliable. i guess a rx8 is a real step up from the 20 year old 300zx he goes home in. strictly rating a car by it's "sports car" appeal and you call yourself "everday driver" ? I don't know anyone who wants to drive an rx8 everday.
a $25k platform like an rx8, or gen coupe against a $38k platform like a g37? get real, there is no comparison, unless you're grading based on price alone.
-
you know, a g37s is about $42 now, and an 08 used one unless it's damaged or salvaged still go for $26 to 28. $19,900? where do you get these figures? from some salvage car stealership advertisement?

I hate that clock. In an S Class Mercedes-Benz, fine, have a clock, but a G37...?
Todd - your argument is nuts... buy a Z if you want performance.. buy a G if you want performance with luxury, lower insurance and wife with oh god kids in the back... Both the Hyundai and Mazda loose their value ASAP and their lower quality and re-sale value prove it. You should add the real competition to the G which is the BMW for those that love conservative (boring) design.and or Z vs Boxer (over priced and lower performance). I had a twin turbo Z in 1990 and waited till 2006 for the G.

@wavesdvdcom - Well, Todd owned a 1990 300zx, and is a big fan of the Z cars in general. But he still finds the Genesis to be a real competitor here. It's not refined, but it is fun to drive. Great resale value is often an indicator of market demand more than actual quality - Keep in mind Hyundai has one of the best warranties in the industry so a used Genesis is a pretty safe gamble. Of course, since the guys disagree, we encourage others to do the same.
Thanks for watching and commenting!!

@EverydayDriver - Sorry, I can't help myself - I need therapy... but no wonder you liked the gutless RX-8 as it was very similar to the non turbo 1990 Z +2 backseats. Sorry, but true. I drove both and wanted more HP and torque. They were more like a Honda Prelude or 90's Acuras rather than real sports cars. The Twin Turbo Z won best sports car of the year like 6-8 years in a row in one of the car mags. It's sad that HISTORY has forgotten what a super car it was - way ahead of it's time.

@wavesdvdcom - We hope you've watched our Z car comparison. 300zx TT vs. 350z vs. 370z. As a Z car fan, you'll probably enjoy it. And as far as the RX8 is concerned, since you watched the review you probably noticed we agree with you about the lack of power.
