  • When taking off the back of the screen (the part with the Apple logo on it) I've heard say that a 1.5mm Hex screwdriver is better than a Torxx screwdriver as the Torxx head is not exactly the right shape and it may strip the screws.

  • @plica06 It's the opposite of that -- torx is the better fit, and hex has rounder edges that don't fit tightly and will strip the screws if the screws are not in perfect shape. Probably about half of iBook screen screws will not work with hex because they are already slightly stripped, and using hex on them only strips them further. If the screws have never been used, hex works well enough. But torx has pointy edges that fit in the grooves and give you a good grip, so it's preferable

  • Can I use a 12.1 iBook g4 screen in an iBook g3 clamshell

  • @vanhala7 I suspect so, but it's been a while since I've seen a clamshell, so I can't say with certainty. I'd check out iFixit.com and you can probably tell by looking at their guides.
